Braintree Clock Repairs specialises in cuckoo clock repairs. We repair and service all makes and models or mechanical (and some electrical) cuckoo clocks. We actually repair and service all types or clock, mantle clocks, grandfather clocks, carriage clocks… any clock!. That said around 70% of what we do is now repairing and restoring cuckoo clocks. We hold spares, both modern and vintage, as well as tricky components like really good quality Swiss 8 and 1 day music boxes. We provide warranty repairs for Loetscher in the UK but also deal extensively with unlabelled craft clocks, mainly from the Black Forest, as well as Shnieder and Hubert Herr.
We have completed museum level resto’s and can work with 19th century wooden cage movement clocks up to tripple fusee units with 3 bellow pipes. We have machinery and workshop facilities to completely rebuild these machines if required.

We do this becuase most of our customer are, at the very least, enthusiasts and many ask us for advice on maintentance and regulation or balancing cuckoo clocks and many other clock types.
Cuckoo clocks are really good fun. There is so much going on with the clocks and our customers would not be without the cuckoo singing out the passing of the day. Kids love them and our most frequent repair is snapped or jammed chains that have resulted from grandchildren playiing Tarzan on them. Its hardly surprising really as children will watch fascinated as the chains on the clock are pulled up. They associate the cuckko with the chain pulling, so logically, they pull them to make the cuckoo come out . Keep doing that kids – it pays my rent.
